hello, welcome, and hello as well to my speedrunning page! this is where i'll collect information about speedrunning.
but what is speedrunning, anyways?
an abbreviated history of speedrunning goes here
my runs
i compete in STM speedruns (100% and +REM%) mainly, but i've been getting into the MBTA scene recently (-Silver%)!

the aforementioned "tips 'n' tricks"
- please eat! the STM is nice because there are food establishments, but i always have a couple granola bars and water on me.
- bring a friend! not just for morale, but also because it's easier to plan and get pictures and time and all if you're not the only one doing it.
-
don't forget to have fun and be yourself :)
i've bailed on so many speedruns because it just didn't feel right, or i just wasn't having fun that day. you're doing this for you, not a record... - consider ear protection! trains are loud (>90 dB) and you want to make sure your ears will last another day
STM
- assuming the optimal routing, you'll need a Zone A and a Zone AB fare. given the breakeven points of the current fare structure, it might just be worth separately buying a Zone AB fare -- but consider if a Zone AB 24h fare is right for you!
- The Blue, Green, and Yellow lines are quite good at running to schedule. The Orange is not. Keep that in mind when picking timeslots.
- i recommend eating a meal before your run. it makes it easier to think.
- There isn't a set of diagrams or anything for STM stations that i'm aware of, so consider figuring out what cars you want to be in to make transfers easier!
MBTA
- as far as i know, it's most economical to do the speedrun on a 1-day LinkPass. I would never advocate for not paying fares, but consider that I only had 7 taps, and the breakeven is 5...
- consider scheduling bathroom and food breaks into your run. this run is kind of a slog, and there aren't really good locations in stations to use the bathroom
- try not to have a vehicle crash on your route. it really messes things up.
